Coordinator of the new Erasmus+ Programme visits ISQ
Following an invitation by the Board of Directors, the Director of Education and Vocational Training at the European Commission and Coordinator of the new Erasmus+ Programme, António da Silva Mendes, visited the ISQ campus in Portugal on 13 February, where he was able to see ISQ’s good practices and important technological know-how. Before going to the Thália Theatre for the official launch of the Erasmus+ Programme in Portugal, António da Silva Mendes spent the morning visiting the laboratories, the Training Centre and the Technological School for Welding and Energy, accompanied by ISQ’s chairman, Manuel Cruz, and manager, José Oliveira Santos. The European Coordinator for the Erasmus+ Programme was pleased with the skill, technical abilities, R&D and innovation at ISQ, which support work-based learning, which is integrated into ISQ’s training model and exclusive among Portuguese institutional training programmes. Topics such as entrepreneurship, innovation, quality and strategic partnerships were mentioned by António da Silva Mendes as being characteristic qualities of ISQ. They are also central themes in European policy, supported by the new education and vocational training programme Erasmus+. Creating strategic alliances between training and companies was the challenge set by the Commission’s representative, and it was one that ISQ will certainly follow up in its growth and internationalisation strategy.
