Aasta Hansteen Platform
Technip Houston, the company managing construction of the Aasta Hansteen Spar Platform, has awarded ISQ the manufacturing inspections for mooring cables. ISQ will monitor the lab tests of the raw materials, manufacturing process and final product testing. It will inspect the different stages of the braiding process up to the final product, including rings, a process which is fully manual. The cables are being made at Lankhorst (WireCO Group) in Maia and Viana do Castelo, in Portugal, and are being stored in coils produced in Viana do Castelo, which are also inspected by ISQ. The AASTA HANSTEEN gas field is located 300 km off the coast of Norway and is 1300 metres deep. The Aasta Hansteen Spar platform is 193 m high, 170 of which are underwater, and is 50 m in diameter. This will be the largest Spar platform ever built.
