ISQ Reabilitação assesses BPC bank headquarters building in Luanda
The inspection and non-destructive testing to determine the building condition of the concrete structure will be carried out in the emblematic building, situated on Luanda’s seafront avenue since 1967, which has 22 floors, 15,000 m2 of built-upon area and is 90 metres high. In May 2014, TPF ANGOLA – CONSULTORES awarded ISQ Reabilitação, a company of the ISQ Group operating in Angola, the specification of the concrete building, a task which is part of the whole rehabilitation of the building. The work includes a survey of the visible anomalies, the detection of the layout and diameter of the reinforcements, the measurement of the carbonation depth, calculation of the chloride content in the concrete, sclerometer tests and the extraction of core samples to determine the compression strength of the concrete. The final report will provide the values which will enable the structural integrity of the building to be assessed by using a calculation programme, equating the possible need for structural reinforcement due to the building’s new functionalities. Four technicians were involved in the development of the activity as well as specific equipment to perform the non-destructive tests. ISQ Reabilitação is a company of the ISQ Group that provides services in the Angolan market in the areas of construction, public works and general maintenance. It also carries out quality control tests, infrastructure projects, supervision and management of works.
