NATAL Project
On March 24th 2014, at the ISQ auditorium at Tagus Park in Oeiras – Portugal, an Information Session for the NATAL Project was held with its main objective being the development and industrial implementation of the pre-treating of aluminium alloys for the aeronautical industry, using environmentally friendly substances. The event was attended by several institutions from the Aeronautical Sector, for which this subject is of the utmost importance, as in 2017 the pre-treatments currently based on chromate must be replaced by other more environmentally friendly ones while giving identical corrosion protection. Included in the event programme was the presentation on the legal framework for the industrial use of chromium and its replacement in the short-term, given by the Head of the Area of Safety and Environment of ISQ. This issue has raised considerable interest in the businesses present as this is an area of importance in industrial sustainability. In this field, ISQ supports its clients in the compliance with the legal requirements, in improving their environmental performance and in the reduction in the risk to their activities. The NATAL project, which is funded by QREN, began on the 1st of October 2010 and ends on the 31st of March 2014. It is a Consortium project led by Aerohélice, with the participation of ISQ and the University of Aveiro as co-promoters. Contact Ana Cabral
