Infrastructure solutions

ISQ in infrastructure

For over 30 years we have been involved in the design, construction, monitoring and refurbishment of road and rail infrastructures, including bridges, viaducts, and tunnels wordlwide. We are also Inspection Body for elevators, mats and escalators, and work in special cases like historical monuments.

25 DE ABRIL BRIDGE

ISQ guarantees the safety of the 25 de Abril Bridge crossing. We have a permanent team of technicians and engineers on the bridge who, on a daily basis, carry out technical inspections of its structure, all of its component parts and the access viaduct. We have been involved with the bridge since 1988 and also took part in the works to widen the road deck and install the railway track.

ISQ in rail and transport

In addition to integrated inspection, technical consulting, testing and analysis, and human resources training services in various areas of road and rail transport, ISQ participates in joint projects for the modernisation of equipment and the development of innovative solutions.

EcoTrain – Very High Speed Train

ISQ is part of a consortium – led by Amorim Cork Composites and also including Alstom Portugal and PIEP – for the development of new composite cork components to be installed in very high speed trains.

For this project, ISQ has developed an eco-design and has performed a life cycle assessment and mechanical testing on materials that may be used on train floors, side panels and partitions.

Interail – mobile track inspection and diagnostics in a single pass

This European Union R&D and NDC project, coordinated by ISQ in a 13 European partners consortium, includes companies and universities from seven countries.

Five different rail inspection technologies in a single rail vehicle, diagnosing the track the vehicle is running on, identifying rail defects and logging the condition of the track. The vehicle’s wheelsets are fitted with ultrasound and electromagnetic systems that “see” inside the rail and detect cracks. Devices that measure track imperfections, rail grinding and the track profile dimensions are also installed. The system is fully integrated and inspection can be carried out at speeds of more than 80 km/h. The system can be used in railways worldwide for agile non-destructive rail inspection and diagnostics.
