Acronym: SIMOCE Project name: SIMOCE – Intelligent system for monitoring and optimising energy consumption Project code: NORTE-01-0247-FEDER-017690 Start date: 16-06-2016 Completion date: 15-06-2019 Total eligible cost: 512,145.57€ Funding amount: 512.145,57€

  The SIMOCE project, a national initiative of the international project M2M Grids submitted and already approved by ITEA/EUREKA (project 13011), aims to investigate and develop an intelligent system for monitoring and optimizing energy consumption in the residential sector (with the ability to use legacy equipment and be integrated into existing facilities), which allows to be acquired at a competitive cost, installed expeditiously and that is effective and user-friendly. In addition, it is intended to develop innovative concepts focused on needs (current and future), highlighting the management of energy consumption with the micro-production of energy, the use of electric and hybrid vehicles and the implementation of Demand Response programs. In this sense, this will be based on m2m concepts and technologies and smart grids and will use artificial intelligence mechanisms. The solution will be based on three main components to be investigated, developed and integrated:

  1. (a) sensors, measuring devices, actuators and other devices and equipment associated with data acquisition;
  2. b) Middleware/gateways to which all installed devices and other existing equipment will be connected in the context to be monitored and optimized;
  3. c) Central processing system that will integrate all artificial intelligence relating to the processing, optimization and decision of the system.
