Acronym: LubSysTech Design Assignment: Integrated lubrication management and condition analysis system based on the monitoring of the quality and performance of industrial lubricants. Project code: 033673 Total Cost: 663,067.56 € Funding amount: 465.198,77 €

OBJECTIVES: Industrial lubrication is a primitive form of preventive maintenance, which when administered correctly increases the availability and lifetime of equipment. Sometimes industrial equipment is operating under extremely demanding conditions (abrasive media, high temperatures, high rotation allocated speeds, high dust deposition rate under them, etc.) require further care with regard to procedures for the preservation of their mechanical integrity and efficiency. The LubSysTech project is intended to develop an integrated lubrication management and condition analysis system based on monitoring the quality and performance of industrial lubricants. This system will have integrated diagnostic and forecasting algorithms that allow real-time, support the decision in the management of maintenance relating to actions to be taken on lubricants and on the maintenance of equipment. This project consists of a philosophy of conditioned lubrication, which has as assumptions lubricate according to the needs of the equipment, replace lubricants only when necessary and certify that the lubricants perform their functions correctly. On the other hand, it takes advantage of regular oil analyses to perform, in the premature development stage, a monotorization of the condition of the equipment. The LubSysTech project is supported by a portable equipment for the collection and analysis of lubricants, which consists of a set of various measurement sensors will have the ability to be connected in the lubrication circuit of the equipment to be monitored. EXPECTED RESULTS: To meet these challenges the LubSysTech project proposes to develop an integrated lubrication management and condition analysis system based on the quality and performance of industrial lubricants. The result that is intended to be obtained is to generate for the customer: – A significant reduction in the consumption of lubricating oils, with a consequent reduction of imports at the level of raw materials (refined oils and/or crude oils to process them) with a positive contribution to the National trade balance and a reduction in energy consumption associated with the process of transformation and transport. – A significant decrease in the amounts of hazardous waste generated by premature lubricant replacements. – A reduction in equipment downtime due to decreased lubrication system failures and reduced lubricant replacement needs. – An aid tool in the management/planning of equipment maintenance actions through permanent information on the condition of lubricants and equipment. To achieve this purpose the LubSysTech project develops new capabilities in two parallel lines of research: Portable equipment – In the development of an innovative portable oil collection and analysis equipment (allowing the monitoring of oils through lubrication routes); Software with Predictive Model – In the development of a condition lubrication management tool with diagnostic capacity and life time forecasting. This project received support from the Operational Program Competitiveness and Internationalization and Lisbon2020.
