Portugal in the largest scientific project of today
ISQ is participating in the ITER Business Forum 2019, which runs from 26 to 28 March in France, where more than 200 companies (representatives of ITER ORG, EU, ESA, Russia, Japan, South Korea, India and China) discuss, in the context of nuclear fusion, the challenges and solutions to create today's largest scientific project, european objectives of decarbonisation and energy eco-efficiency. ISQ is one of the few Portuguese entities to participate in this project, providing a wide range of services. Isq's involvement in the development of today's largest scientific experiments – ITER, E-ELT, IXV or CERN – is proof that the international market assumes us as a central player in big science (science projects). ISQ provides a wide range of services, including training, inspection, testing, development of non-destructive analysis methodologies, design of specialized tests and test platforms operating at high temperature, while also providing engineering support services in connection technologies. Isq's current portfolio of contracts running at the Level of Big Science amounts to more than 25 million euros. In addition to direct participation, as is already the case in other projects, ISQ also acts as leverage to other Portuguese companies – especially SMEs – enabling them to participate in Big Science projects.
