FIRST LABORATORY IN PORTUGAL TO CALIBRATE OPTICAL PARTICLE Counters (COP’s)
ISQ, through its Metrology Laboratory Labmetro, is the 1st entity in Portugal to be accredited by IPAC – Portuguese Institute for Accreditation – for the calibration of optical particle counters, reducing the time spent on equipment calibration, since the equipment is sent to Accredited Laboratories outside Portugal.
The calibration of optical particle counters (COP’s) according to ISO 21501-4:2018, “will allow companies to evaluate clean environments in hospitals, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, among others, to ensure the traceability of their measurements and ensure confidence and quality of their results,” says Tânia Farinha, Service Manager of the Metrology Laboratory.
ISQ continues to support these companies by performing the calibration of this equipment in its Laboratory, which allows compliance with the requirements.
Currently the monitoring and measurement of airborne particles through COP’s has gained increasing importance in different areas such as
- control of unwanted environmental contamination essential to protect and ensure the integrity of processes or products in various sectors, particularly in the aerospace, microelectronics, pharmaceutical, medical devices, health and food industries;
- clean rooms, their classification and framework according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and according to the ISO 14644-1 standard.
