Digital Skills for Educators

Under the first fundamental European principle of human rights, on the right of any citizen to “quality and inclusive education, lifelong learning and training“, the challenges posed to vocational education and training (VET) programmes by the containment and slowdown of economic activities brought about by the COVID19 pandemic have reinforced the need to work on a European strategy for vocational education. In this context, the STEP 3 project is a response to the challenges posed by the rapid transition to new forms of distance learning in technical and vocational education. The STEP3 project is the result of the initiative of organisations such as EVBB and EVTA, representatives at European level of the vast majority of vocational education and training centres. The idea of the project is to create a repository of knowledge of e-learning modules, methodologies and teaching techniques, which should be accessible to all, in particular regional, local and less able VET providers to fit the teaching tools and methodologies of the new e-learning environment. In this sense, the main objectives of the STEP3 Project are:

  • strengthening the capacity of vocational education and training (VET) programmes to provide inclusive, high-quality digital education to their trainees;
  • Develop Open Educational Resources for teachers and TRAINERS OF VET – 30 modules in total;
  • Training of training and vocational training centers to implement online teaching programs – remotely or on a semi-face-to-face regime;
  • Develop high-quality digital content, promoting innovative e-learning methods and tools accessible to the various members of EVBB and EVTA, thus making it available to all VET centers;
  • Promote networking opportunities among VET providers, through the EVBB and EVTA representatives organizations that join forces in this direction, and
  • The development of customized and adaptable solutions at regional / local level.

OUTCOMES 30 new training modules will be developed in line with the European Framework of Reference for Digital Skills (DigiComp), covering all 5 areas of:

  1. Information and Data Literacy – 5 modules
  2. Communication and Collaboration – 8 modules
  3. Digital content creation – 7 modules
  4. Security – 5 modules
  5. Troubleshooting in digital environments – 5 modules

The Project will also have a training action for trainers and members of the consortium of organizations responsible for the implementation and management of the project and six dissemination events, including a final Conference.
